Total Job Cost, Not Just a Rate
What land clearing actually costs in Liberty County, by acreage
A per-acre rate doesn't tell you what your job costs until you multiply it out. Here's that math done for common lot and acreage sizes, plus what pushes a real quote above or below these numbers.
Why a single flat number online doesn't mean much
Search around and you'll find land-clearing cost calculators that spit out one number for an entire county, no matter how many acres you've got or what's actually growing on them. That number is close to useless on its own. A quarter-acre lot buried in mature hardwood can cost more to clear than five acres of pasture grass and saplings. The two things that actually set your price are how much ground you're clearing and how dense it is, which is why we quote off both instead of a flat county-wide figure.
Total job cost by acreage and density
These figures apply our published per-acre rates across common lot and tract sizes, so you can see what a real job costs instead of just a rate per acre. Every job still carries the $650 minimum described on our pricing page, and mobilization inside the Cleveland, Plum Grove, Splendora, Shepherd, and Tarkington ring is included.
| Size | Light density | Medium density | Heavy density |
|---|---|---|---|
| Half acre (lot) | $650 min | $650-$825 | $950-$1,375 |
| 1 acre | $650-$950 | $1,150-$1,650 | $1,900-$2,750 |
| 2 acres | $1,300-$1,900 | $2,300-$3,300 | $3,800-$5,500 |
| 5 acres | $3,250-$4,750 | $5,750-$8,250 | $9,500-$13,750 |
| 10 acres | $6,500-$9,500 | $11,500-$16,500 | $19,000-$27,500 |
These are per-acre rates applied at scale, not a quote. Real jobs get priced off your actual acreage and a look at what's growing there, not a table.
Worked example
Say you've got 3 acres outside Splendora with mixed brush and hardwood 3 to 8 inches across, which is our medium tier. That's $1,150 to $1,650 per acre, times 3 acres, landing at $3,450 to $4,950 for the mulching itself. If the lot sits inside our core service ring, that's the number, no separate mobilization charge added. If it's further out toward Livingston, a $150 to $350 trip charge gets added on top depending on distance.
Lot clearing and fence line work don't scale the same way, since they're sold as a flat lot price or a per-linear-foot rate. See the full breakdown on lot clearing and fence line clearing for those numbers.
What's included at these prices
- Mobilization inside the core ring. Cleveland, Plum Grove, Splendora, Shepherd, and Tarkington, no separate trip charge.
- Ground mulch left in place. No hauling fee, no landfill tipping charge, no burn permit needed since there's no pile.
- A written price before we mobilize. Per acre or per lot, confirmed before equipment moves, not adjusted after the fact unless you add scope.
- Standard density-tier grinding. Grass and saplings through mid-size timber, in a single pass, up to the mulching head's rated diameter.
What adds cost beyond the table
One limit worth knowing: we price off real acreage and real density, confirmed by photos, a video, or a site walk, not a flat per-acre number applied blind to a listing photo. Two three-acre lots a mile apart can land in different rows of the table above depending on what's actually standing on them.
Cost guide questions
Are these prices guaranteed?
No, they're the same per-acre rates from our pricing page applied across common acreage sizes so you can see a total instead of a rate. Your real quote depends on the density and access of your specific property.
Why is my table row wider than the number I got quoted?
The ranges above assume a job that fits cleanly in one density tier for the whole tract. Mixed tracts, part light brush and part heavy timber, often price as a blend rather than a single row on this table.
Does this include stump grinding or fine grading?
No. These figures cover forestry mulching only. Stump grinding below grade and fine-grade work for a slab are separate excavation scope, quoted apart from mulching.
What if my acreage falls between the sizes on the table?
Call or use the quote form with your real acreage. We'll quote your actual number rather than round you up or down to the nearest row here.
